sunday crafting makes for a happy, happy, happy girl! 

I love projects, I love painting, I love all things ARTSY.

today's main project was: organization. 

I'm a little OCD. well maybe a lot OCD, don't judge me.

so I have this incredibly long desk I got from the one and only, IKEA. It's supposed to fit over a bed...like a giant over the bed table. but I simply use it to spread out all my papers and such. I do not like clutter. and my desk was beginning to feel very, very cluttery. 

yes, I made up that word...it's my blog, I do what I want! not really. but anyways.

I read a blog by Lauren Conrad on how to focus better with just 10 easy steps! and one of them was having a happy, inspiring space to work with. and if you saw my room, I have every color imaginable in here to inspire and make for a creative space. I love color. bright yellows, turquoise, blue, pinks, corals...you name it..it's present in my room. 

so my desk is my number one place where focusing is definitely necessary. I thought a lot about what that blog said and I decided to clean it up a bit today. 

I have a massive amount of colorful pens, pencils, and highlighters. originally placed in two cute little  mason jars on my desk. but the more pens I accumulated, the quicker I began running out of room. 

the following photos show my solution:

 peanut can

 that green foamy stuff which I cut into pieces to line the bottom and give extra height so my pens and such would sit up at the top some. 

 the washi tape

 then I lined the lid with index cards to place over the green pieces inside, so they wouldn't fall through and be stuck down at the bottom

 place it inside

 then added these little cups we had around, to support the pens and such, so they would stand a little better

 um, please don't judge how many pens/pencils/highlighters I own. and yes, I do need ALL of them, I promise.

 wrap that tape around...VIOLA! pretty container for my obsession with colorful writing utensils.

so not only does this create more space on my desk, it is a nifty place to keep all my pens/pencils/highlighters AND it's super cute, bright, and colorful!
